The Board Members of ALTAV organized a special tour at the Syedra Ancient City during sunset, with the mission of promoting the rich history of Alanya and highlighting its cultural values. This meaningful event, held in the captivating atmosphere of the ancient city, provided unforgettable moments, aiming to promote Alanya’s historical heritage worldwide.
The tour, which took place at the Syedra Ancient City, where the historical texture becomes even more impressive with the sunset, offered ALTAV members the opportunity to both explore history and enjoy a visual feast. As they walked among the ancient ruins bathed in the orange light of the Mediterranean, the ALTAV board members received information from the Excavation Director, Associate Professor Ertuğ Ergürer, about structures such as water reservoirs, temples, theater ruins, and mosaics, and observed the ongoing work. Ergürer noted that excavation and restoration efforts were being carried out meticulously, and despite its roots dating back to the 9th century, the Syedra Ancient City still harbors many cultural treasures waiting to be discovered. He mentioned that once the restoration work is completed, the ancient city will be opened to ticketed visitors, allowing both local and foreign tourists the opportunity to experience this unique cultural heritage more closely.
PRESIDENT ÖZÇELİK: “WE WILL PRESERVE OUR CITY’S HISTORY”
In a statement about the tour organized by the ALTAV management, Alanya Mayor and ALTAV President Osman Tarık Özçelik emphasized the importance of Syedra for cultural tourism, saying: “We are ending the day in the fascinating atmosphere of the Syedra Ancient City. In this historic place where life began in the 9th century, we conducted a tour with my colleagues from ALTAV. We received information about the efforts to promote Syedra for tourism. We observed the dedicated efforts of our academics working in the field, along with the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. According to the information we received, significant progress is expected in the excavation work by 2025, and we are eagerly waiting for this process. I sincerely thank everyone who contributed to this process, on behalf of Alanya and our country.”
ALPER GENCELİ: “SYEDRA IS ALANYA’S CINDERELLA”
Alper Gencelli, ALTAV’s Spokesperson and Syedra Supervisor, who organized the tour, referred to the significance of Syedra in his speech, stating, “Syedra is one of Alanya’s and Turkey’s most important unknown beauties. In my opinion, Syedra is like Cinderella, who dropped her shoe at the beautiful ball of history, and has been the one Alanya has been searching for for years.” Gencelli emphasized that Syedra is the rising sun of Alanya’s east, and underlined that this historical heritage should be supported in every way.
